Smoother Video Cutting

A project aims to enhance the interaction of mobile video editing software, making it more user-friendly and smoother.

The Improvement focuses on the scenario of mobile video editing, exploring the possibility of performing complex editing operations using just a single button. With the goal of enabling one-handed operation, it aims to enhance the interaction efficiency, intuitiveness, and enjoyment of the editing process.

In this course, we focus on improving the shortcomings of existing interactions. Through preliminary user research, I have discovered that mainstream mobile video editing software (e.g: “Jianying” or “InShot”) tends to migrate the usage logic of computer-based video editing software (e.g: Adobe Premiere Pro) to the mobile platform, overlooking the unique usage characteristics of mobile users:
1) One-handed operation;
2) Small screen size;
3) Majority of users being amateur editors.

This results in a fragmented user editing experience, as described by the users themselves. Therefore, I conducted a investigation into the “Jianying” app and proposed new interaction methods based on the existing software. For specific solutions, please refer to the video above.

This project has been selected as an outstanding work in this course and showcased in an article on the college’s official WeChat public account (南科大创新创意设计学院).
